We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team in Lusaka, Zambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and supporting the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in executing the Finance department's responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Process Management: Oversee the month-end process, ensuring internal deadlines are set, workloads are planned, and reports are submitted on time, while adhering to group requirements.
  • Financial Statement Review: Review financial statements on a monthly basis and ensure that all support schedules are collated accurately.
  • Project Accountability & Wages: Ensure timely review and accurate posting of project accountabilities and wages in the system.
  • Payments Processing: Oversee the daily posting of supplier payments and other financial transactions as soon as payments are made.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure the timely payment of statutory taxes, including VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, Provisional Tax, NHIMA, NAPSA, and any other withholding taxes.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring that all variances are resolved before the balance sheet (BS) upload.
  • Debtors Management: Assist the team in managing debtors, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding debts, and sending reconciled statements to clients.
  • Mobile Money Reconciliation: Reconcile mobile money accounts and wallets monthly, ensuring all variances are addressed before BS upload.
  • Supplier Invoices Processing: Process supplier invoices continuously, ensuring the accuracy of allocation to the general ledger (GL) accounts.
  • Intercompany Billing: Handle all intercompany billing, ensuring missing invoices are requested and sent to trading partners promptly.
  • Supplier Reconciliations: Oversee all supplier reconciliations, ensuring statements match the GL, are signed off monthly, and filed for annual audit purposes.
  • CICO Report Updates: Update the CICO report monthly in line with set timelines to ensure correct reporting.
  • Audit Management: Lead all aspects of external, internal, and regulatory financial auditing arrangements, ensuring thorough preparation for audits.
  • Accounting Process Improvement: Implement efficient accounting processes to maximize operational efficiency, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with Group control requirements.
  • MIS Compliance: Ensure timely updates on MIS and allocation of receipts/CNs to clear unallocated aged supplier balances, improving DSO/AP days.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • A professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent (or currently pursuing one).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in management accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and ERP accounting software.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage expectations.
  • Strong planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in delivering services.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
